
Researchers from the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI) represented Wits Business School at the 17th International Society for Third-Sector Research (ISTR) Conference, held from 13–17 July 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal. The team, which included Prof Hlengiwe Ndlovu, Dr Dennis Osei, Dr Wycliffe Ouma, Dr Eleanor Chipeta and Thandeka Mfeka-Maphula, presented research that contributed to global discussions on African philanthropy, social investment, civil society and sustainable development, while engaging with leading international scholars and practitioners. CAPSI’s participation reinforced the School’s commitment to advancing African scholarship and shaping research, policy and practice on the global stage.
Professor Bhekinkosi Moyo, Director of the Centre on African Philanthropy and Social Investment (CAPSI), moderated the semi-plenary titled “Tomorrow’s Philanthropy”, which brought together global philanthropy leaders to explore the future of giving and its implications for research and practice.
