What if grantmaking started with community power, rather than donor requirements? Across Africa, young philanthropy practitioners are reimagining how resources reach grassroots communities. Watch the recording of Reimagining Grassroots Grantmaking in Africa, a consultation and knowledge exchange on a youth-led, Afrocentric and community-grounded Grassroots Grantmaking Toolkit. Co-created by young philanthropy practitioners from South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia, the toolkit seeks to rethink how resources reach communities, shifting from grantmaking for communities towards grantmaking with communities. This conversation brought together researchers, philanthropy practitioners, funders, community foundations and development actors to interrogate the emerging approach, share perspectives and contribute to strengthening the toolkit.
